I personally find the statement "uses the ground extremely well" meaningless. All good golfers have a stable/balanced swing.
Here is a DTL view of his swing.
I think that he stands square to the ball-target line, and he traces the SPL (ball-target line).
I also think that he is a swinger who uses a pitch elbow motion - even though his right elbow is alongside his right hip area at P6, rather than in front of his right hip area. The position of the right elbow doesn't define a punch/pitch elbow motion - it's the nature of the right arm/forearm motion. Rory is a swinger and he he uses a takeaway swivel action and therefore a release swivel action, which requires a pitch elbow motion. He also gets his right forearm near-vertical and under his hands at his end-backswing position. That allows his right arm/forearm to perform an underhand/side-throw motion in his late downswing - which is definitionally part-and-parcel of a pitch elbow motion. He doesn't load his right elbow at his end-backswing position (like a TGM hitter) and perform a straight right arm throw action (without using a release swivel action) - as occurs in a TGM hitting action.

Where? I do not seem any slowing of his upper torso pivot motion or hand motion through impact.
Kevin Shields wrote-: "He has as much tumble as anyone ever".
Where is Rory performing a tumbling action? I still have no idea what is meant by a "tumbling action" and I don't think the BM-groupies have any consistent idea as to exactly what is meant by the term "tumbling action".
