is a FLW using the putting stroke (as described in Bobby Clampett's book) the same thing as David Stockton's forward press?

I don't. I think putters are constructed differently for that. One thing I found that helps with putting is keeping the #1 PP in tact throughout the stroke.

how many people actually use a FLW for putting? on tour, its hard to tell but i do seem to see a fair share of cupped left wrists.

Am assuming you mean by FLW, flat left wrist?

I rarely in 40+ years putted with FLW. I started putting with the long putter in 1987. Before I tried everything. Seems my best putting was with the right hand wrist locked into place. But it was always something with my putting. I think it all boils down to lack of confidence, FLW or not. Rand
