Dr Mann Is this PGA teacher's opinion regarding rear hand grip correct? DG I think that his opinion is invalid for many reasons. First of all, the position of the club handle relative to the ventral aspect of the right hand's fingers mainly depends on right hand grip strength. The club handle will likely lie across the middle phalanges with a neutral-to-weak right right hand grip, but across the proximal phalanx with a strong right hand grip, and it is optional how to hold the grip with the right hand if one is a TGW swinger. Secondly, a TGM swinger is not using the right hand to power the swing so variations in right hand position are not important in the way that he suggests and a strong right hand grip will not predispose to hooks if one avoids over-pronating the right forearm and straightening the right wrist during the late downswing and through impact. I personally favor a strong right hand grip because it makes it biomechanically easier for me to have my right palm facing skywards at the P5.5 - P6 position when I perform the "anti-Malaska Move" during the downswing. Jeff.

Many thanks Dr Mann - I tested this out yesterday and was slicing the driver (and actually hurt my left wrist too). For me , it seems that I need a stronger right hand grip to synergistically support the squaring action of PA3 and support my left wrist with a slightly bent right wrist through impact, especially for off centre strikes.
