Watch this golf instructional video by Russell Heritage
Of all the golf instructors on the internet, Russell Heritage's golf instructional teaching best approximates my golf instructional teaching philosophy.
I would only recommend that he describe how the shoulders move more vertically in a different manner. Watch the video between the 7:00 - 8:30 minute time point, where he talks about "feeling" the left side of the mid-torso extending. I think that the better golf instructional description would be to emphasize the point that the pelvis must open up and become more open than the upper torso, which makes it easier to acquire an increased degree of right lateral bend, and that the "feeling" should be that the mid-abdomen (navel area) points to right field ("first base" in baseball analogy). That will allow the right shoulder to move more efficiently downplane as the shoulders turn more vertically so that the right shoulder moves under the chin - rather than having the shoulders rotate in a more horizontal "roundhousing" manner.
