Dr Mann
I know you were waiting for Shawn Clement's book to be published before providing an opinion on his instruction but it looks like the book won't be published until Xmas.
The most crucial aspect of his golf swing philosophy is contained (imho) in this video below and I am confused about the physics and biomechanics of what he is doing that allows him to create such clubhead speed (unsure about the accuracy of his strikes as I've never seen any Trackman stats in his videos).
Do you have any ideas about this 'up and down' (he calls it the centrifugal pump ) motion in his quads and glutes and how he could be weight loading his right hip to stop early extension or spin out? It almost seems that he is using an up and down motion to help increase the angular speed of his arms ( I think its called reciprocation where linear motion can be converted to circular motion). I am assuming that this pump motion is helping to increase the speed of his arms/clubhead just before CF forces start acting (as his hand path 'turns the corner').
He also talks about freeing the range of motion even more (and more 'pump' action) if one wanted to increase clubhead speed and not using any muscle manipulation to force the clubhead. I am confused about how he is keeping the PA's intact before release and whether he is using an active or reactive pivot to release PA4 .

Dr Mann I know you were waiting for Shawn Clement's book to be published before providing an opinion on his instruction but it looks like the book won't be published until Xmas. I think that SC's explanations are totally nonsensical! I don't agree with any comment that he expresses in that video. He is simply performing a standard golf swing motion in a perpetual motion manner, and the golf swing motion can be pivot-induced or the pivot action can be reactive. An active pivot action golf swing action and a reactive pivot action golf swing action will look the same if the timining of the reactive pivot action is excellent and if the active pivot action is not exaggerated. Jeff.
