Consider this swing video. The golfer is worried about the position of his right forearm at the end-backswing position. He therefore started this thread. www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/427025-what-on-earth-are-my-arms-doing-at-the-top-of-the-swingA number of forum members recommended a "glove under the right armpit" drill to correct his problem. Do you think his right forearm position at his end-backswing is wrong, and do your think that the recommended remedy is correct? Jeff.

No, a glove is just going to get him to rotate the left arm flying wedge on the backswing into more of a laid off position.
If he wants the right arm closer I would recommend a little less roll of the wedge on the backswing by bringing his hands inward a touch, this should not lead to a laid off position. This would also likely get him to bend it a touch more.
I honestly dont think he is in a bad position to begin with.

Agree with you gmb, looks a pretty good action dont see what such a minor change in position of RF would achieve unless he knows thats the reason for a repeating mishit.

Wow, why would you want to mess with that backswing. Unless there is something we're missing due to the darkness I cannot imagine a better looking backswing position. It may get him laid off a time or two but nothing that would cause major complications.

I agree with all of you guys.
I think that his RFFW has a perfect relationship to his LAFW.
I don't know why some golfers believe that there should be no "airspace" between the right upper arm and the right armpit area of the right torso.
Jeff.

I agree, I think his right forearm is in an excellent position. I'm actually quite envious as that is one of the things I will eventually address with my own swing. I think people feel that the right arm must be close to the right side of the body at p4 probably because Hogan's was close to it and popular golf instruction has said that you don't want a 'flying right elbow.' The main thing the right arm away from the body effects is the left arm angle. Hogan had the right arm up against his body and had a flat left arm angle. Somebody like Tom Watson had the right arm well away from the body, thus an upright left arm angle. Depends what one can play with and this golfer looks pretty much dead on plane at p4. His driver may be a tad bit too long for him. He also gets a bit underplane as well. But he had a very good golf swing IMO. 3JACK
