I have zero influence in the world of online golf instruction despite my detailed/probing analysis of golf swing biomechanics, while people like Brandel Chamblee has a major influence - despite not saying anything that is meaningful.
He is mainly focused on the motion of the butt end of JT's club during the P4 => P5 time period and he states that it moves more outwards (in the direction of the ball-target line) rather than moving more vertically downwards. What is revelatory about that observation?
Here are capture images of JT's clubshaft shallowing action.

Here are capture images of JT's clubshaft shallowing action.
The red splined path is his hand arc path. His hand arc path is very similar in shape to that of other pro golfers who start with "high hands" at their P4 position.
Image 1 is at P4. Note that JT has "high hands" because his lead arm angle is steeper than his shoulder turn angle. Note that JT (who adopts a weak lead hand grip) has a bowed lead wrist which causes his clubface to be slightly closed relative to his clubhead path and the watchface area of his lead lower forearm at P4. Note that his trail upper arm is abducted and that his trail elbow is marginally higher than his lead elbow.
Image 2 is at P4.5. Note that JT is only shallowing his clubshaft to a small degree because he does not manifest a very assertive trail upper arm adduction maneuver. BC talks about JT's clubshaft becoming more closed during the P4 => P4.5 time period, but that is a nonsensical statement because the term "closing" refers to the clubface. What is happening with respect to his clubshaft is that he is shallowing his clubshaft so that his clubshaft angle becomes less steep (relative to his hand arc path).
Image 3 is at P5.5. Note that his trail elbow is well below his lead elbow so he continued to shallow his clubshaft between P4.5 => P5.5, but the amount is not large.
There is nothing unusual or revelatory about JT's hand arc path or his clubshaft shallowing action.
