I found this video quite interesting where Dr Greg Rose used JS's 'old swing data vs current swing data' to check what has changed and possibly identify reasons for loss of clubhead speed.
So it seems that JS is currently not using his lower body like he used to back in 2010.

So it seems that JS is currently not using his lower body like he used to back in 2010. DG I have already seen this video and I reject GRs thinking. JS had never previously been measured with force plates so there is no comparable data. GR claims that his horizontal (lateral) GRF is too low and he wants JS to push targetwards off his trail leg/foot. However, JS has always had a very centralised pelvic motion pattern where he manifests a centralised pelvic loading pattern at P4 and where his pelvis remains centralised without any left-lateral pelvic shift during his downswing and he could generate a very high clubhead speed in 2010 when he was apparently generating his maximum peak clubhead speed. Therefore, I am not surprised that JS has a low horizontal GRF. GR states that JS must go back to his "old" established pattern when he was performing at his peak, but there is no evidence that JS ever had a high horizontal GRF in 2010. GR states that the purpose of pushing more forcefully off the trail leg/foot is to get to the front foot. That may apply to a front-foot golfer, but if JS is a reverse foot golfer that advise may not be applicable. GR states that JS must use his legs more forcefully to release his lead arm faster (release PA#4 faster) and he shows JS the "golf instructional idea" of squatting down and then jumping up by straightening the lead leg more forcefully. However, if the goal is to get JS to get back to his peak clubhead speed performance by releasing PA#4 more efficiently, GR has no data to show that in 2010 JS was using his lower body more forcefully to release PA#4. I think that this is pseudo-scientific reasoning! JS stated that he always felt that he actively pulled his club downwards using his upper body - presumably by using his shoulder girdle muscles on both the lead and trail sides. It is possible that JS was using his shoulder girdle muscles more efficiently in 2010 compared to 2024, and GR has not considered/tested that possibility. I saw no evidence in that video that shows that obtaining force plate data is going to benefit JS and allow him to regain his peak clubhead speed that was apparently at its peak value in 2010. I would be interested to know what clubhead speed at impact JS is now obtaining since he underwent this video teaching project with the TPI team. Jeff.
