Jeff, I might try your rope experiment and see if I can hit some drives with it.
nm, I can see where Jeff is coming from. But I just dont think we can look at pictures and determine what kind of forces and torques are underlying the action. I think if one is to study Austin with a goal of understanding his swing then we should also study and listen to what he himself has to say about it. I think his swing is different than a TGM swinger who blasts the arms off the body via the pivot. I'm very doubtful that TGM alone is complex enough to explain the nuances of his action, given the parameters set by Homer. You have to look at things that just arent even acknowledged by HK.

By "kind" I just mean magnitudes, directions of forces/torques, etc.
