I am reading through Kelvin Miyahira's articles and I am not quite understanding lateral bend, is there any good examples or pictures that show this bio mechanic?
I am posting this kinda for you Jeff because I know you have a grasp on this stuff.

Greg,
I don't believe in the validity of KM's "lateral bend" concept.
Jeff.

Greg, I don't believe in the validity of KM's "lateral bend" concept. Jeff. Ya, I know you don't but thought you might have some illustrations of the concept, maybe even a paper or something given your way of analyzing things (especially when you believe them wrong). I studied the concept more for a few hours last night and have a better grasp on it now.

I think its just the motion you would make if you tried to touch the bottom of your rib cage to the top of your hip. IIRC Miyahira believes/teaches this spinal gear theory, where the spines moves more efficiently when the "gears" are engaged, and supposedly these spine "gears" are engaged through lateral bend. It was the first time I'd ever heard of this "spinal gear" theory, and I remember looking it up back then and supposedly the theory was advanced in a book called "The Spine Engine" and it got positive reviews from doctors, surgeons, chiropractors, etc. This was quite a while back so I dont know if Kelvin has changed his thinking on this topic.

Well given Jeffy's involvement in the forums lately I wanted to study the theories again so I started re-reading his papers (I had stopped last year so I have missed a lot). He still subscribes that its important to the swing.

I like pretty much all of Kelvin's stuff. I've found a lot of useful things in his papers, things that I never really heard anyone else talk about.

Btw Alberts knows fuck all about morad and little he did know was being peddled to that tool manzella for a freebie to his summit crap . Pity would have made a good summit with dumb and dumber talking " morad"
