Consider this video of John Oda's clubface. jeffygolf.com/showthread.php?336-600fps-video-of-John-Oda-s-impactJeffy classifies it as "shut-to-open". Where is it shut pre-impact? Where is it open post-impact? I would classify it as "in-to-square-to-in" with respect to the clubhead arc and "open-to-square-to closed" with respect to the clubface, and with the period of clubface "squareness" being many inches within the immediate impact zone. Jeff.

Here is another attempt by Jeffy to prove that the clubface goes from shut-to-open. jeffygolf.com/showthread.php?343-Heel-strike-Toe-hit-With-foam-ballsThose capture images do not really show that the clubface is shut to the clubhead arc pre-impact - in either situation. The clubface is either square to the clubhead arc or marginally open. In the DH release action, it remains square to the clubhead arc while it closes in the flip/roll release action. Jeff.
