See this article www.aroundhawaii.com/lifestyle/health_and_fitness/2012-06-trunk-balance-more-on-how-to-turn-your-hips.htmlKelvin states that the 'correct" backswing pelvic motion is to move like the old Tiger Woods. Kelvin states-: "Correctly done, as old Tiger shows, the right leg straightens slightly in the first half of the backswing, the right hip externally rotates and the right hip is pulled back using the left hip as the door hinge." Kelvin then states-: "The second half of the backswing looks like this. As right hip reaches the end of its range of movement of external rotation, it will begin to internally rotate and become the axis of rotation." I disagree with his entire theory that there are two axis of rotation with respect to pelvic motion in the backswing - first the left hip joint in the early backswing, and then in the late backswing the right hip joint. I don't believe that one has to use the left hip joint as a "door hinge" in order to pull back the right right hip joint. I basically don't believe that there is any axis of rotation with respect to the pelvis - during either the backswing or the downswing, and I believe that there is great variability in pelvic motion between different golfers eg. VJ Trolio versus a golfer using a traditional rightwards-centralised backswing action (eg. Stuart Appleby) versus a golfer using a leftwards-centralised backswing action (eg. S&T golfer). Jeff.
