In reply #8, 3jack labels Hossler as having a push elbow at P6.
Here is a capture image from the Hossler video.
Now I would agree that his right elbow is in a push elbow location, but I don't think that it represents a push elbow motion. If one actually reads the 7th edition of HK's TGM book, on page 144 HK states that push elbow is a hitter's motion that is independent of hip motion and location. I don't believe that Hossler's right elbow motion is a push elbow motion. I believe that Hossler is a swinger, and I believe that he doesn't push with his right arm/forearm (as occurs in a hitting action). I think that Hossler's right elbow is in a push elbow location because of the biomechanics of his downswing action - he adducts his right humerus in his early downswing and he brings his right elbow alongside the right side of the his right torso, but he brings it to a location behind his right hip and not in front of his right hip (standard pitch elbow location). That doesn't mean that he is going to perform a push elbow motion in the later downswing (from P6 to P7) - which is a hitter's active right armed push motion.
I think that many golfers are mistaking right elbow location as being equivalent to right elbow motion. A TGM swinger doesn't ever use a push or punch elbow motion because that only occurs in hitters. However, a swinger may have his right elbow in a push or punch elbow location at P6.
By the way, here is a Greg McHatton video on pitch elbow.
I personally find this video of no value, because he is talking about a pitch elbow location, and not a swinger's pitch elbow motion.
Jeff.
