If my right wrist stays the same distance from my right shoulder socket, and I then try to dorsi-flex my right wrist as my left wrist up-cocks, then my left upper arm wants to move away from my chest and it becomes "disconnected." So, I like to let my right elbow pit bend right at the beginning.
