Consider this BM-forum thread. www.brianmanzella.com/golfing-discussions/17593-head-lifting.htmlThe original poster has a head-lifting problem in his backswing action, which I regard as a swing fault that is eminently remediable. Kevin Shields replied-: " I'd rather stand up somewhere so I didn't plow the club into the ground. It's a very common problem." What a bizarre comment! Why should a golfer, who doesn't lift his head up during his backswing action, plow the club into the ground? Secondly, if a golfer does plow his club into the ground (hits it fat), then surely the appropriate remedy is to specifically correct that specific downswing fault. Why would one introduce a backswing fault (head lifting) in the hope that it may decrease the chances of a downswing fault ("fat shot")? Jeff.
